Biography

Melody G. Carrier (née Chappell) practices school law, employment litigation defense, immigration law, and probate and estate planning. Her experience includes complex litigation in both state and federal courts, as well as appeals in Texas appellate courts and the United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit.

Melody earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from the University of Texas at Austin. She continued her education as a Langdell Scholar at South Texas College of Law, where she was honored as the most outstanding female graduate. The Texas Board of Legal Specialization certifies her in the area of Labor and Employment Law.

Melody belongs to the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association, the Texas and National Association of School Attorneys, College of the State Bar of Texas, State Bar School Law and Employment Law Sections, and the Texas Association of Defense Counsel and Education Law Association. Additionally, she has served as the former director of the Texas Young Lawyers Association and the Jefferson County Young Lawyers Association. She has written and presented papers on several employment law and school law topics.
